The Fundació Castell del Vi and the Cooperativa Falset Marçà started a new wine tourism activity in Falset, the capital of Priorat. It’s a route around the main attractions of the town that includes the breakfast, the lunch and, of course, a wine tasting.
The activity has been launched to make known the enotouristic offer in Falset, bringing it together in a single day. The guideline is done by the theatre group from Reus Teatre del Napbuf, who also organizes the dramatised tours in the cellar of the cooperative, which received more than 9.000 people from 2009. Furthermore, last year the cellar celebrated its centenary with great success in the number of visitors.
The route starts with a breakfast in the inner ward of the Castle of Falset and the visit to the wine interpretive centre that is inside the castle, a modern and innovative equipment that offers a look at the wine history and culture of Priorat. It continues with a tour through the main touristic places of Falset (the Quartera Square, the palace of Comtes d’Atzara or the Portal del Bou, among others) and a lunch at one of the three restaurants that were added to the initiative for the time being. Finally, there is a visit to the Cooperativa Falset Marçà, a modernist cellar done by Cèsar Martinell, a disciple of Gaudí, and the route ends with a wine tasting.
