The 33rd edition of the Wines & Cava Trade Fair of Catalonia is one of the most consolidated wine festivals, and it arrives with the Mercè’s fiesta.
The Catalan Institute of the Vineyard and Wine (INCAVI) organizes each year this trade fair. It’s an open place where public can enter from the 21st to 24th September. Assistants can taste wines and cavas from the different designations of origin of Catalonia: Alella, Catalunya, Cava, Conca de Barberà, Costers del Segre, Empordà, Montsant, Penedès, Pla de Bages, Priorat, Tarragona and Terra Alta.
But this fair is not thought for the commercialization of wine, but its tasting and promotion, so in the stands you can only taste the wines. However, there will be a place called “The Fair Trade cellar” where visitors will be able to buy wine.
This is a successful fair that is growing every year. Last year it changed the place, from the Moll de la Fusta to the Passeig Lluís Companys, where is placed also this year. There will be 64 cellars, three more than last year. Organizers say that this number has been doubled from the year 2010.
The novelty of this year is the presence of the Tourism Catalan Agency, which will promote the Enotourism offers available in Catalonia.
