Wines
The main vocation of this wine making area is white wine production. Its white wines have a bright pale yellow colour and their nose unfolds fruity and floral aromas. They are dry and pleasant, balanced in mouth and they have a long lasting aftertaste.
Rosé wines are made from Listán Negro variety. With an attractive pink colour, its main features are fruity and floral aromas, as well as its freshness and lightness in mouth.
Geographical situation
A special feature of this D.O is that it protects grape cultures inside the Autonomous Community. It is more a political division than a geographical one, which allows a D.O guarantee seal for those Catalan productions that are not covered by any other existant designation of origin.
Climate and soil
The climate is Mediterranean. Soil shows all the varieties in the Autonomous Community, so the characteristics are not the same for all the products that this D.O makes.
