Ten Catalan wines were at the seminar of Grenache wines of Zurich, Switzerland, the last 18th of February.
The day started with a Showroom of wines from different areas of Spain, and there were wines from the 11 Catalan Designations of Origin. Later, the wine waiter and journalist David Schwarzwälder taught a seminar in Catalan wines made with Grenache, in the presence of more than 100 people of professional audience.
The Grenache is a grape variety that can be found in all the Designations of Origin in Catalonia, but it’s especially important in the DO Empordà, DO Montsant, DOQ Priorat and DO Terra Alta. In addition, it’s a very versatile variety that allows the production of every type of wines: dry and sweet white wines, sparkling and full-bodied wines, dry and sweet red wines…
The Catalan Wine Association was in the seminar to promote Catalan wines abroad. But there are more activities planned in the next months: a Showroom of Catalan wines in WashingtonDC on next April, an inbound trade mission in the United Stated on June and, on the same month, another Showroom in Switzerland.
